Thank you for taking the time to familiarise yourself with ‘In the Mind of the Young’ and its brand new spin-off programme, ‘Next Phase Ready’.

My name is Steve and I am the full-time coach and presenter for both ‘In the Mind of the Young’ & ‘Next Phase Ready’. I enjoyed over twenty years in the teaching profession, including ten of these as a Senior Leader of various guises, in an 'outstanding' secondary school, located in the best performing mid-sized trust in the country.

I have a breadth of educational experience having led on whole-school teaching & learning, CPD, secondary transition, reporting & assessment, SCITT and Sixth Form. I have worked with Senior Leaders across a range of schools on various aspects of school improvement and served as the CPD Lead for the Herts & Bucks Teaching School Alliance.

In addition to my teaching and degree qualifications, I have recently undertaken the extensive Brain Based Conversational Skills and Neuro Science coach-training programme, and am now certified with the Neuro-Leadership Institute, accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF).

Prior to teaching and post university, I spent four years working in over 75 London Primary Schools for an Educational Events Agency (Activate UK), managing and delivering initiatives for Lloyds TSB, Buxton Water and Nike UK alongside the Youth Sports Trust. I also spent one season as a full-time professional footballer, plying my trade in England and for a short while, Portugal.

I have a BEd (Hons) degree from Exeter University (St Mark & St John), am fully DBS checked and have undertaken Safeguarding and Prevent training as recently as January 2025.
